• Social Work: Interlibrary Loan

Guide for those entering the Social Work Field

    Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

The Interlibrary Loan (ILL) department provides students, faculty, and staff with materials not contained in the Katie Murrell Library's collection by borrowing from other libraries not only in Kentucky but the entire United States.  Access to these materials is through the Online Computer Library Center (OCLC) and their online database, WorldCat

ILL is a free service and anyone can request a book, an article, or another library item.

Average Loan Period - 5 weeks

Our library also obtains copies of both journal and newspaper articles needed as well.

If you have any questions or need help locating a book or journal article, connect with the Interlibrary Loan Office either virtually or in-person.

Requests may be made in one of the following ways:

    1. Complete the Online ILL Request Form
    2. Email hamlettk@lindsey.edu
    3. Call (270) 384-8253

Kim Hamlett is the ILL contact.

**WE DO NOT CHECK OUT YOUR TEXTBOOKS!**

**YOU CANNOT KEEP THE BOOK(S) THE ENTIRE SEMESTER!**

If the ILL book has not been returned by the end of the semester, your student account will be charged $55.00 plus the fees from the lending library.

    Plan accordingly!

Most requests are filled within 7-10 days, but they may take as long as 3 weeks. Therefore, plan research accordingly. The preferred method for notifying patrons when materials arrive is Email, so include an Email address in all requests.

It's a free service to the campus community.

Materials received through ILL are generally supplied free of charge and become the property of the borrowing patron. If a library item has a charge associated with it, the patron will be notified for approval before the item is sent.

Off-Campus students may request ILLs through the same channels as on-campus students. Items will arrive in the ILL office and then be processed before being mailed directly to the student's home address.  Because items must be processed after arrival and then mailed, allow an additional 5-7 days when planning your research.
